Camping and Crawfish

This weekend we went out to Circle 7 for the 2nd Annual Crawfish boil. As usual we were looking forward to lots of family, friends and fun for the weekend! This year we rented a camper so there would be plenty of space for us and the girls could nap throughout the day.  The camper was great and perfect for the weekend and I'm sure we'll be going on some more weekend adventures with it.

We arrived in Centerville about 6:00 pm Friday night before the bad weather hit. Luckily we made 20 minutes before heavy rain, half of golf ball sized hail and a possible tornado that was in the area! Scary!!! After the bad weather we sat outside in the patio area and enjoyed good food, Texas music and visiting with friends.

Saturday, the day of the boil 420 pounds of Louisiana’s finest crawfish were boiled with potatoes, onions, sausage and even some jalapenos! Ah-ee!! Mmm...Mmm...so very good! While the crawfish were cooking, Addison learned how to fish for the first time. She had so much fun and pretty much spent the entire morning down at the pond casting and fishing. I see a fishing pole in her future that's for sure! The rest of the day was spent riding the mule around the property, Ashley swinging under a shade tree, riding her tricycle, Jason participating in the annual bocce ball tournament and eating our weight in crawfish. Once the sun went down and the kids were in bed the fun continued by the bonfire...

Thanks as always to the Evans and Alaniz families for sharing their property with all of us! We had a fabulous time and we look forward to next year!

ELA Admission Letter

After three years of applying, Addison FINALLY got in the Early Learning Academy at Wunsche High School next year. It is a phenomenal program for Spring ISD teacher's children and we are so excited about it! I am so happy and sad at the same time. She will have to go everyday in order to be in the program and will not get to spend time home with me since I work part time. However I think Addison will honestly love and enjoy the program so much she will want to go everyday.

Ashley and Asparagus

At dinner tonight Ashley kept squawking for me to give her some asparagus. So I put a stalk on her tray thinking she would not even touch it let alone try it. She picked it up, tried it and then devoured it along with two other stalks. Who knew that Lee-Lee loved asparagus!

Notice Hunter behind waiting for Ashley to throw it down...

Yummy!

A full happy girl!

Now if we can only get Addison to eat asparagus...

My Sweet Pea

My sweet pea Addison has made a shift or a change in her three year old behavior so much so I must brag on her! She has been using her manners all the time and has been so caring for everyone in the house. We have received lots and lots of hugs, kisses and snuggles from her! There is no talking back or arguments anymore and she is a “big girl making good choices” as she has said the past few weeks. She is also eating every meal that we put in front of her and then some. I love that at dinner the other night she reminded us to share what our favorite part of the day was. She is becoming quite the little lady. Jason and I are so proud of her! Tomorrow we are taking her to get a special treat for her wonderful behavior. Swim on by Friday to see Addison’s “Goldie” reward…

Addison, Horse Whisperer

Addison was fortunate to ride Rosco P. Coltrane again at Circle 7 this weekend. He is a sweet, gentle horse and great with the kids. Thanks to Mr. Bobby for bringing Rosco over to ride and convincing all of the kids that their parents need to buy them a horse…trying explaining that to a three year old!

Let There Be Cake!

Since Ashley's birthday was the day before Easter this year we had a very busy day planned. We drove out to Circle 7, the Alaniz’ and Evans’ property, for the annual Easter egg hunt and to celebrate little Ashley's 1st birthday. What a beautiful bright sunny day it was to have a party! Ashley had a great day playing in the fort, swinging under a shade tree and seeing a horse up close for the first time.

When the time came for Ashley’s party, I got her birthday cake out and sat a table cloth on the ground so she could really dive into the cake. Thankfully Lindy’s Country Cake shop made a matching little cake for Ashley to tear into and boy let me tell you, she devoured her cake! She was not sure about it at first just sticking her fingers into the icing and shaking it off. Then, I stuck my finger in the icing; let her taste it and that was all she wrote. She looked at me with an expression of WOW this stuff is good. She then grabbed a fist full of cake and proceeded to shovel it in her mouth. Ashley ate every bite of that little cake and she was covered in cake from head to toe too! But it was so cute to watch her enjoy it.

Her number 1 cake

This cake is good

She can't get a big enough bite in apparently!

Uh-oh now she has a spoon so she can get more cake

What a cute cakey mess!

Thanks to all of our family and friends who helped make Ashley's first birthday special!

Happy 1st Birthday Ashley!

Happy 1st birthday my sweet Lee-Lee! You are a true gift from God! Daddy, Mommy and Addison are so thankful for you. You complete us as a family. You are so silly and so shy at the same time. You are tender hearted and love to be held and snuggle. You love playing with your sister and she adores you. Addison can get you laughing like no other. You love for Daddy to toss you in the air and love to dance with Mommy. We love you Ashley Grace and pray that all your dreams come true!

Good Family Friday

This morning we decided to drive out to Plantersville to King's Orchard to pick some fresh strawberries and have a picnic lunch. We had a great time and it was worth the drive. The strawberries were HUGE and delicious!

and we ate along the way...

Don't these look yummy!

Overall it was a Good Family Friday! The girls had a wonderful time picking and eating strawberries and Daddy and Mommy stopped at Bernhardt Winery on the way home for some wine tasting.
