Not so Wordless Wednesday...House Remodel

Needless to say the house remodel is FULLY underway and I am excited STRESSED about all of it. Every room in the house is basically a disaster. The overflow from the rooms being worked on are in every bedroom and dining area. I can't find a thing and as far as my house being clean...well that's another story. Friday every existing tile in the house was ripped out. Bathroom, kitchen and backsplash tile all gone and will be replaced with beautiful new tile. HOWEVER there is dust everywhere and I mean everywhere. It will take months I think to get all of the dust out. A cleaning crew will be out to clean the house when everything is complete. As far as when the house will be complete. That is the question of the day! It changes daily. The granite countertops will delivered and installed on the 5th of July but then we leave for vacation shortly after that for a week. We will still have backsplash and carpet to install after the countertops. So I don't believe everything will be finished until after Miami.

I don't mean to complain but I am so over all of this! It will be so nice and pretty when it is done but having a three and one year old living in a construction zone and having workers at 7:00am everyday at my house has stunk this past week.

AND to top it all off Addison has been very sick since Thursday with double ear infections and a high fever which has not broken yet. We are on our second antibiotic (had to get something stronger) and if she is not better in the morning we are headed back to the doctor again! I pray that she is better for the holiday weekend.

It has been one of those weeks. I have been handed a bushel of lemons. If anyone has any sugar they want to send my way that would be great!

Yes that would be my fridge in the living room...

and my kitchen

No sink, no stove!
I am barely surviving!

Happy Father's Day!

A Father's Love

A father is respected because
he gives his children leadership...
appreciated because
he gives his children care...
valued because
he gives his children time...
loved because
he gives his children the one thing
they treasure most - himself.

The righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed after him. Proverbs 20:7 NKJV

We love you Daddy! Happy Father's Day!

Why did you pick me?

Today at lunch as we were all sitting around the table Addison asked, "Mommy why did you pick me"? My eyes welled up with tears and I told her because she was so special and that it had been God's plan all along for us to be a family. Then she asked, "I was suppose to be Ashley's sister"? "Yes", I said. God had a plan for all of us to be a family. Mommy and Daddy needed you girls and you girls needed us!

Thank you Jesus for your perfect plan!

Fun at Flips

Addison started a gymnastics class today Flips. She was so excited that my child who normally gets up between 8:30-9:00 during the summer got up at 7:30 this morning ready to learn how to "do flips" as she said. As we were driving there, I was worried about how she would be going into the class without me. During the school year she had some separation anxiety issues which got better as the year went on. We talked about how she would listen to Ms. Nicole, her teacher, and that I would sit and watch her. Once we got there we quickly had to buy a leotard and change because I could not find one anywhere. Addison picked out the most patriotic leotard with red, white and blue sparkle stars and was even more excited once she had it on. I must say she looks pretty darn cute in her leotard!!

When the time came for class to start, she did great walking right in with no problems. As I sat down to watch I thought to myself this is going to be great. I thought a little too soon! Addison's class warms up with all the other class. Each child stands on a dot while they dance and stretch to a warm up song. My child just stood there…

Addison made her shy face the entire warm up. I felt so bad because most of the children started last week and they knew what they were doing therefore she was a week behind. For those of you who know Miss Addie T, you would never know it but she is very shy in a group of people and very slow to warm up.

After the warm-up the classes separated and began to rotate between each activity. First up for Addison was running and jumping into the pit of foam blocks! I really thought she would do great because she loves jumping into the pool however she did not. She ran a little but stopped at the edge a looked into the pit each time. Ms. Nicole had to pick her up and toss her in! She came out smiling every time but she would not jump by herself. Maybe next time when she is more comfortable with everything she will do it by herself.

Eventually as the class went on Addison began to warm up and became her social outgoing self; maybe a little too well! She did great running, hopping and jumping off of the springboard onto the mat. The only difficulty at this rotation was when the teacher told her to go sit down in the line with the other children; she would run across the gym and sit somewhere else. I’m not sure if she was being a stink or did not understand what the directions were. Honestly, I think my smart little gymnast was being a stink but I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt being it was her first class.

At the last rotation my little gymnast began to shine on the bars. She loves to swing on the bars and did great at it!! She was beaming from ear to ear and was so proud of herself. Because she was doing so well and enjoying herself at the bars, Addison had a hard time waiting her turn. She did not want to sit down and she became a little too helpful pushing a little girl on the bars to get her swing but ended up knocking her off. We will definitely have to work on our listening skills before next week.

Overall Flips was a HUGE success and we are so PROUD of our little gymnast! I cannot wait to see how she progresses throughout the summer!

Growing Pains for Mommy

For some reason Addison always saves the deep philosophical questions for me and not Jason. Lately she has been talking about her being inside my tummy. Being that she is only three I do not want to get into nor do I think she will understand a big conversation about adoption. At the same time I do not want to mislead her in any way about her birth and she does know that her sister flew on a plane and arrived one day. Back to the conversation at hand..."Mommy when I was a little baby I was in your tummy."
Me: Well you were not in Mommy's tummy, you were in someone else's tummy and you are so special that Mommy and Daddy got to choose you.
Addison: Whose tummy was I in?
Mommy: Another ladies' tummy
Addison: What's her name?
This is the part when I became uncomfortable. I know I should not feel that way and I never want our girls to feel ashamed or that we cannot talk about their adoption but this was hitting to close to my own personal Mommy feelings. I want to tell Addison want her birth mother's name is but I feel at this age she is too young to understand truly what all of this means. We have several children's adoption books telling stories about adopting and yet as smart as I believe Addison is I don't think she is quite ready for all of that information yet. I don't think I will ever be prepared emotionally for this conversation that is coming one day but I know I need to set my feelings aside and do what's best for my girls. They are the best gift from God I have ever received and hopefully He will give me the words when the time is right.

Monday Memories

Addison has been "whistling" at everything she can lately. She whistles at Hunter to get him to come inside and she whistles just for attention. Notice her "whistling" in the video clip. It's more of a whoop than a whistle. Let's hope that whoop doesn't turn into any more Aggie things :)
