Gracie, our Elf on the Shelf

Our newest Christmas tradition! Year after year, children and adults alike are baffled by the mystery of how Santa really knows who’s been naughty or nice. After much urging by the elves and Mrs. Claus, Santa has allowed his biggest secret to be revealed in The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition . This gift set includes a  North Pole pixie-elf, hardbound children’s book and keepsake box. Children can register their elf online and receive a special response from Santa.

Our elf's name is Gracie. Gracie will keep watch of the girls this Christmas and report back to Santa every night if they have been naughty or nice. The next morning she will be in a new spot and the girls have to find her. This morning you would have thought it was Christmas morning! Addison came in very early and yelled, "She's gone!" Of course I flew up in a panic and said, "who's gone?!?" "Gracie!! She's gone." Oh yes, we have an elf on the shelf now...I will be better prepared in my sleepy haze tomorrow. Wow! It's awesome for parents!!

Many Thanks!!!

It was a wonderful Thanksgiving and I thankful for so many things! I am thankful for my faith and my Lord. We have found a wonderful church to call home and I am so glad that our girls are growing up with God's love. It gives me great joy! I am thankful for my husband who says, "A family that LAFS (love, acceptance, forgiveness and sacrifice) together, stays together!" I am blessed to call him my best friend and husband for over 11 years now. Finally I am thankful for my family who we spent a wonderful Thanksgiving day with. I am thankful for their love and support.  It was wonderful vsiting with everyone and I cannot wait to see the rest of the family at Christmas time! The only downside to the day...I wish I had taken more pictures :( We were so caught up in cooking, visiting and watching football that I forgot. I would have loved a picture of my Maw maw, my mom, me and the girls. Hopefully we'll have another opportunity soon. I did snap a few pics of this girls when we first got to Mimi's house.

 Oh give thanks to the LORD; call upon his name;
    make known his deeds among the peoples!
Sing to him; sing praises to him;
   tell of all his wondrous works!

Family Funday!

Wednesday morning we decided to get up on a beautiful day for Houston (blue bird sky and high was only 70!) and go to the Houston Zoo! It has been a while since we had been to the zoo. Ashley was a baby and did not remember it at all. When we got there we rented a cart to push the girls around and off we went. They had so much fun and were so excited to see all of the animals and the new African exhibt. I am thankful that we ran into Elenaor, a 30 year zoo volunteer, who spent at least ten minutes with the girls telling them everything about the elephants. We learned that the two baby elephants name's were Tueplo and Baylor and that the oldest elephant at the zoo was 42 years old! Elenanor was the nicest woman and she made my girls experience wonderful!

We had so much fun we bought a membership so we can go back as many times as we want this next year! Here is to making more great memories as a family!

Nativity Breakfast

We are blessed to attend a church that has a wonderful children's ministry that our girls love. Last Saturday morning we we went to our Nativity Breakfast at FBCTW. We had a delicious pancake breakfast, a nativity petting zoo, family pictures, and an Advent craft and family devotional.
